RSS Overload
posted by Tyrantmizar at 9:23 pm EST on December 11, 2005The one downside with the internet is also its greatest strength: too much information.
I ignore my Bloglines account for 2 days (that’s it!) and I’ve got 950+ new things to read!
The main culprits? Joystiq and Kotaku. Each account for about 200 new posts.
However, 60% of each are about topics I don’t care about. My solution? Subscribe to the individual categories. I’ll try that for a few days and see how it turns out.

Hi there, i had the same problem, especially over holidays and long week end. I must say that i found the perfect parade to this. It is called searchfox (http://rss.searchfox.com) and use a disruptive approch to sort your RSS feed. You still have time sort, tag sort (or any combination of those) but you also have a personnlized sort. You gonna ask me what the heck is that. Well it is easy, during the first day of use, searchfox will learn the topic you read the most based on your clicked linked (inside the site, no third party or spy kind of thing). A scoreis then assigned to your post and sorted. Im not quite sure on how they base their ranking.
You wont notice much difference on the first couple of days, but wait at the end of the week, it becomes heaven… I got hooked up! I have this BoingBoimg, Endgadget and JoyStiq feed too, and the first post mentionned are so relevent to me , it is scary. Give it a try, and you will definitely love it !!!
And dont worry, they have everything a web-based RSS reader can have, fast interface thanks to AJAX technology, Import/Export via OPML, Tagging, feedlet and so on. The site is still in beta, but the guys there at searchfox are really reactive(a bit like blinklist! )
Let me know !
/Bob
