Grab and Drag Extension

posted by Tyrantmizar at 5:59 pm EST on November 9, 2005

The Grab and Drag Firefox extension is a personal favorite - and I’ve only been using it for a few days!

If you’ve ever used Adobe Reader, you’ll immediately recognize the feature of this lightweight extension. It, literally, allows you to grab the web page, and drag it around - Adobe Reader style!

While I happen to like this extension, I could easily see how someone wouldn’t like it.

Luckily you can toggle it on and off (without restarting Firefox) or press F2 to temporarily disable it so you can highlight some text.

This is a rather simple extension that should have been done a long time ago.

This is actually useful to see exactly how big the solar system is. Install the extension, go and view the Solar System, and drag the image over and over again until you get anywhere (takes a while to even get to Mercury!)

Update: Previously I had retracted my approval of this extension because of bugginess, but since the newer versions (0.9.6+) that is no longer an issue. I now fully support this extension.
