See Mars Tonight!

Mars will be the second closest to Earth it has been in the last 60,000 years! The first closest was in 2003, where it was only 35 million miles away. Tonight it will be 43.1 million miles away. Usually it is about 140 million miles away.

If you think you’ll live long enough, I guess you could wait until 2018 to see it this close again, but you shouldn’t. You should see it tonight when you have the chance!!

Look to the east a few hours after sunset. The peak will be at 11:25 EST.
